“Life in the resort centres on the private Fisher Island Club, where membership costs $250,000, plus about $20,000 in annual fees. In 2013, the club underwent a $60m facelift, which included work to the spa, marina and golf facilities, and a restoration of the Vanderbilt mansion. ‘We upgraded the entire island,” says Bernard Lackner, the club’s chief executive.'”
